About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

Christening Invites

Good Morning All

I have had a busy weekend making 50 Christening Invitations for my Grandsons Christening in May.
This is a mock up.

I was waiting until the last minute yesterday to get the final details before I printed the inserts, anyway, as it was I  had to leave the time blank for Megan to fill in as she could not get hold of the vicar.  So now they are all parceled up ready to go in the post today.  I forgot to take a picture of the finished ones, this pic is one I emailed to Megan to see if she liked it, nothing is glued down or cut perfectly as you can see.  And the crosses I used were plain and a bit smaller.  I inked the edges of the heart too.  I,m so annoyed with myself for forgetting to photograph them.
*****************

Now these two pictures are of  'Zentangle' made by my sister in the UK.  I had never even heard of it until she emailed me to show me these two that she had made at her craft class in Southport.

She said it is very therapeutic.  I had a look on the internet to see what it was, it looks interesting but I have enough to do without starting something new.

She said she wouldn't mind me showing you these.  Have you heard of Zentangle?

Oriental

Good Morning All
The theme this week for the Allsort Challenge is ORIENTAL and has been set by Susan.

I did like the sound of this but was not quite sure of what to do.

I saw this lovely digi, from Digi Darla, and thought it looked quite oriental.  They were to be one of our sponsors but they have decided to close their store through illness I believe.  Then I also remembered a set of stamps I bought years ago from Lakeland and never used.  I did not want to colour the stamp so just added some Stickles to some of the leaves, but it does not show up too much on the picture.  I coloured the digi with Promarkers and was so glad I have some of the fine nibs as they were definitely needed for this one.  I had some chinese paper in my stash too so added a strip of that across the bottom.
The lace corner is Cheery Lynn B175.

Box Card

Good Morning All
Hope you all have a lovely Easter Weekend, lots of choccy!!!!!
I sent Easter eggs to Hollie and Noah, I know Noah is a little bit young but I,m sure Mum and Dad helped him eat it.  This is Hollie eating hers Mum said she couldn't wait to get stuck in!!!!  I bought one with a Peppa Pig bowl and cup, which she loves.

*********************************

I have been admiring these box cards for a while now, there has been alot on blogland just lately and look quite complicated to make.  I saw Jak Heath make one on Create & Craft the other day and she made it look quite easy, so I thought I would have a go, and Patricia made one too and hers is gorgeous HERE.

These are both made with Forever Friends stash.  I sold quite afew baby cards on Friday so replacing my stock.

I made a 'boy' and a 'girl' one, not overly embellished, but I think they look quite nice.

I am going to make some more and decorate them more, and the beauty of them is that they fold flat for posting.

We had quite a successful day, but boy, was it hot, so glad I keep a straw hat in the car as it was well and truly needed.  It was quite busy in the morning but tapered off after lunch so we packed up and came away at around 3 ish.  I,m sure they took loads of money for the poor in the village, they had an auction and raffles and I will be going shopping tomorrow for my contribution for them too.

Card Date Book

Good Morning All
I was given a load of cards and three card date books by Linda from Animal Aid (A charity I support here).
The books have a slot for each month to put cards. and a place to write names etc.

This is the inside, showing some of the cards tucked in the slots.  I can't waste anything and it was a shame to cut these cards up,  so I thought someone might appreciate them in these books.  I do get given alot of used cards and I cut them up and use the backs or the plain bits to use for matting, or run them through the Cuttlbug with an embossing folder.

I forgot to take a picture of the front of the books but this is how I have decorated two of them and
John next Door has taken the other one, so watch out on his blog in the future, to see what he does with his.

This is the first one, covered in this gorgeous embossed paper, velvet ribbon, Papermania flowers with button centres and a couple of Hobbycutz lasercuts.  I am on the DT for Hobbycutz and I love these lasercuts that Kobie makes, they are great embellishments.

CHALLENGES
Craft-Dee Bowz 12 AG + Bow

This is the next one, covered in material from a quilt cover I used to cover chair cushions for a sofa.  You could still see the writing through it so I needed embellishments to cover as much as possible.

X Cut alphabet die cuts and large  label for matting with green card and beer carton for brown !!!!

Marianne dies CR 1245  and LR 0250
Crochet flowers and butterfly with pearl centres
Quilled flowers.

I will be taking these to the Craft Fayre on Friday, lets hope they sell.  I enjoyed doing them anyway and if they dont they will be given back to Linda.

Afew pics for you to look at.  The cacti are coming into flower at the moment and the bougainvillea is looking gorgeous too, in two tone blossom all on one plant.  These are on our roof patio.

We have a pot of cacti coming into bud at present and when it is in full bloom I shall post a pic, there are numerous  branches on this one so it will look stunning when all flowers are out, so watch out.

This is the water wheel on the Rio del Segura, this is where we go for a walk.

Quilling

Good Morning All
I have dragged this one from the archives for my friend Val. She was doing some quilling at the craft meet on Thursday and I was showing her how to do petal shapes, so here is one  that show them .

Quilling is something I do when watching TV at night, relaxing but time consuming and worth it for the pretty flowers I can make.

Card Stand

Good Morning All
I wanted to show you this piece of parchment that I finished yesterday.

Lyn, one of the ladies at our craft meeting, wanted me to teach her parchment.  So, as I was showing her, I thought I would do a piece too and this is what I did, it didn't take very long and I finished it when I got home this afternoon, after we had been for a walk..  I had to cut a similar shape out from black card, I thought black would look best.  I hope Lyn will have finished  her piece by next week, so I must remember to take my camera so that I can show it to you all.

Lili Of The Valley

Good Morning All
I received my order from LOTV on Monday (they post free to Spain), they had an offer on for Mothers day and I bought two gorgeous pads of their images.

This is the first one I decided to use because she is so cute.  I used a Tonic Butterfly die which I have run through my Cuttlebug with an embossing mat and inked on the embossed parts of the wings,  and put gems on the leaves, some homemade sentiment tags, homemade bead pin (For Sale on  page at top of my blog) and the flowers are Cheery Lynn Roses die and some bought ones.  Buttons, gems and bows added to bling  it up abit.

Bracelets

Good Morning All
This is a bracelet I made at my craft meet, one of the ladies does beading and she taught us how to do the basic swirl stitch.

This is one I did in another colour, and I gave this as a prize in our raffle at our Fat club, and from that, I was asked to make enough  for us to give, as a gift to all the members  for Christmas.

So now I am busy beavering away making these in different colours that I hope all the  members will like.  I am going to try to make some earrings too which I will show when I have made them.

Flora & Fauna

Good Morning All
Hobbycutz Challenge time again and this week the theme is Flora & Fauna, chosen by Lorraine.

I cut an aperture from a square scalloped card and added acetate to make a window.  Onto this I stuck a Hobbycutz embellishment.  Behind I put some sweet fairy paper  and this matches the sweet fairy holding onto a tulip.  I added  a ribbon down the side and attached homemade 'Birthday' sentiment tags.

The sponsor for this challenge is Crafty Sentiments
and I added one of their lovely circle sentiments on the front and on the inside too.  I do use these circle sentiments quite often, matted onto  scalloped circle die cuts in various colours to match the card I'm doing.

NO Flowers

Good Morning All
Helene has set this weeks Challenge at Allsorts and it is 'No Flowers', she does not want to see any flowers, not even on backing papers so this may be a challenge for some of you.  I decided to go along the safe route and do a 'man' card so here goes.

I,m not sure where I got the image form, it may have Lilac Garden, which is no longer open as Audrey retired.  Matted and layered using browns and beiges, (the beige being OH beer cartons as are the mini sentiments) I attached the sentiment with string, which I thought was in keping with the old fashioned image, and attached a tiny crown charm to it.

So Sweet

Good Morning All
I went to back Specialist on Tuesday and he is sending me for an MRI scan, he said i have 'old' bones and it is the bottom two vertebrae that are causing me problems, he does not think it is a trapped nerve though.  They, the hospital, will ring with an appointment. Iam feeling better but it is still niggling, so going to go through with all this as I do suffer with back ache on and off.
**************
Moving Along With The Times challenge time and the theme has been chosen by Sarah - So Sweet - and by this she means either food or a sweet image.

Warning - Large photo post coming up!!!!!!!

I used a  6 x 6  and a 5 x 5 scalloped card blank, scored the smaller one at half way point on each side.

The top picture is the outside back view when it is stood up, and these two are the front and the back if you know what I mean.

Decorated with same paper and card as the inside.
Cheery Lynne Chrysanthemum die, crochet flower (for sale in my etsy shop in sidebar)

This is the inside when it is laid flat.

LOTV toppers of mice eating chocs and drinking Champers.

Most of the die cuts are Memory Box
Homemade bead pin (for sale in side bar)
Doily inked on edges
Cheery Lynne die cut roses
Homemade crochet butterfly
Joanna Sheen ribbon

These last couple of pictures show how much the light alters the colour of the card.

It is a very bright green card with pink checked paper 'Spring Chic' Me to You.

Pop over to the Challenge blog and have a go.
There is a prize on offer this week too.
